A Touch of Understanding 2016
WEDNESDAY EARLY RELEASE DAY
Don't forget WEDNESDAYS Dismissal is at 12:42 pm. Please make sure that your student knows where to go after school on those Early days. Thank you!
Please note that we are all starting to complete all assignments in cursive. Students DO NOT have to be perfect! They just have to do their best and try to write in cursive. They ALL have charts that were given to them at the beginning of the year for reference, and we have been practicing in class. Please encourage them to do their best! (Cursive is a standard from 3 grade that continues onto high school) Don't give up, it will pay off in the end and if it looks strange at first, it's OKAY!
English Language Arts
I have been asked what supplies will be needed this school year. Don’t worry! There is ONE thing that students will need for Language Arts is a 1 inch 3 ring binder. (they are on sale right now at Walmart for 97 cents!) Anything in class is covered with the exception of extra pencils and lined paper for assignments. Things that would be great to donate to the class are :
Kleenex/Facial Tissue, Hand Sanitizer, Copy paper, Box tops
If you can have basic supplies at home in a safe place for them to do their homework, things like :
Pencils, Lined paper, Crayons, Glue
These would be kept at home to use on projects or homework assignments. Thank you so much for a great start to the school year!
Please remember that homework is an important part of the learning process. It is a way for the students to practice their skills and lets me know what they know, need help on or have mastered. Also, please understand, that if homework is not assigned on Fridays as well, students will not complete the standards that are tested on the SBAC(California Common Core Testing) test in April/ May. Please remember to check your child's Orange Homework Folder daily, as we do indeed have homework everyday.
If there is something that they need help on, remind your student to check in with me so I can work with them to understand the material.
Also please remember to ask them for their Weekly 4th grade Report on Fridays to see what assignments they are missing.
